A guided tour of the Vatican Palaces allows you to visit the most interesting historical, artistic, and archaeological sections of the museum that contains one of the most beautiful art collections in the world. The tour can last from three to four hours and includes a visit to the Pio-Clementino Museums, founded by Popes Clement XIV and Pius VI in the eighteenth century. There you can see great masterpieces of Greek and Roman sculpture such as the Laocoön, the Apollo and the Belvedere Torso, which influenced generations of artists such as Michelangelo. The tour continues through the Gallery of the Candelabra, with a large collection of Greek and Roman sculptures, the Gallery of Tapestries with Renaissance and Baroque tapestries, the Gallery of Maps with paintings of Italian cities and Papal possessions. The tour continues with the visit to rooms frescoed by Raphael for Pope Julius II, masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance and then ends with the great artistic masterpiece of Michelangelo: the Sistine Chapel, one of the most precious artistic and cultural treasure of all time. The visit continues in the Basilica of St. Peter, the centre and symbol of Christianity, where there are masterpieces by Bernini and the famous Pietà by Michelangelo.
